Later, in Paris, the Harbinger moderates the duel's terms between John and the Marquis – dueling pistols at sunrise at Sacré-Cœur. The Marquis chooses a reluctant Caine to duel John as his proxy. The Harbinger warns that John and Winston will be executed if either is late. After John wins the duel by executing the Marquis with a headshot, the Harbinger grants John and Caine (as well as his daughter) their freedom from the High Table and reinstates Winston as the Hotel Manager of the New York Continental.
